Privacy policy

What this site collects (very little), what it does with it (very little), and your options. Effective October 9, 2026.

This privacy policy covers BotForge, a static content site. The honest summary: we collect almost nothing, because there's almost nothing to collect. There are no user accounts, no logins, no comment system and no forms of any kind — nothing here asks you to type anything, and there is no newsletter to sign up for. Effective date: October 9, 2026.

What we collect

Nothing you type. This site has no signup field, no mailing list and no newsletter, so there is no email address for it to store. Until September 2026 an email-capture box sat at the foot of these pages; it was never connected to anything, so it sent nothing and stored nothing, and it has been removed rather than left to imply a list that did not exist. What is recorded automatically is analytics, covered next.

Analytics

Two analytics tools run here. Cloudflare Web Analytics, from the network serving these pages, counts visits without cookies and reports totals. Google Analytics 4 — Google LLC, or Google Ireland Ltd. for European visitors — records the pages you view, the referring site, approximate city and country, device and browser type, and session timing.

Your IP address is not logged or stored by GA4. Advertising features, Google signals and ad personalisation are off, so the data isn't used for ads and isn't sold. It uses two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_<ID>, for up to two years, set only once analytics is allowed and deleted if you decline later. We do not use analytics that track you across other websites or fingerprint your device, and GA4 knows your browser only by a random ID, not your identity.

Consent depends on location, read from your device's time zone. EEA, UK and Swiss time zones get a banner first, and nothing is sent to Google until you click Accept. Everywhere else analytics starts on and you can turn it off whenever you want. Global Privacy Control is honoured as an opt-out. Your choice lives in local storage under analytics-consent, not in a cookie, and cookie settings reopens the banner. Google's privacy policy governs its processing; its opt-out browser add-on disables Google Analytics on every site.

Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links, routed through /go/ addresses. Clicking one takes you to the vendor's website, where the vendor (or its affiliate network) may set cookies on their own domain to attribute a purchase. What happens on a vendor's site is governed by that vendor's privacy policy, not this one — we receive commission reports in aggregate, not your browsing data. What we never do

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with anyone for their marketing purposes. There is no reader list here to sell, and aggregate analytics data is not for sale either. There is no version of this site's business model that involves your data being the product — the business model is affiliate commissions, and it works fine without knowing who you are.

Your choices

You can read everything on this site without typing anything in, and you can turn analytics off at any time from cookie settings. There is no subscription to cancel and no stored record to delete. For questions about this policy, or anything else privacy-related, reach us via the contact page.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change — a new analytics tool, a new form, anything that touches data — we'll update this page and its effective date. We won't quietly expand what we collect and hope nobody rereads the policy.
